One Block WonderOne Block Wonder–Are you intrigued by the One Block Wonder Quilt? In this lecture I show examples, talk about the method and the many design opportunities.

Journey of a Quilt Dabbler–During this trunk show, I talk about my journey as a quilter and show more than 30 quilts from my personal collection. Quilts include both pieced and appliqued and range from traditional to art quilts.

Workshops

One Block Wonder–Learn the technique and start your quilt. We’ll cover cutting your fabric, piecing the blocks, assembling the quilt, border options, and quilting suggestions. Advice for selecting fabric will be provided before the workshop. Full day

Painless Paper Piecing–Learn the easy method for paper piecing using freezer paper. This method is very accurate and means you never have to tear paper out of the back of your blocks! 1/2 day

Machine Applique

Machine Applique–Love the look of applique but not hand applique? Try machine applique. This raw edge machine applique technique uses fusible but doesn’t leave that stiff fusible feeling. 1/2 day

Lemoyne starHand Piecing the Lemoyne Star–Everyone loves the complex Lemoyne star blocks but are intimidated by their complexity. Learn some strategies for tackling these beautiful blocks. 1/2 day or full day

Machine Quilting class in progress

Basic Machine Quilting–Using a practice muslin “quilt,” we will learn the basics of machine quilting. We will cover basting, marking, anchoring, stitching in the ditch, and straight line quilting designs with a walking foot.  Full day

Beginning Free Motion Quilting –Using a practice muslin “quilt,” we will learn the basics of free motion machine quilting. With a darning foot, we’ll practice stippling and other simple filler patterns. We’ll practice quilting a marked design. Then we’ll learn about threads, tension, tools and techniques to improve your quilting. 1/2 day

Curved Seam Piecing

Curved Seam Piecing–Many quilters choose patterns that do not involve curved piecing simply because they are afraid that piecing curves is difficult to do. Once you have mastered curved seams you will find that there are many beautiful traditional block patterns available that include curved piecing. Examples are Double Wedding Ring, Drunkards Path, Apple Core, Glorified Nine Patch, Robbing Peter to Pay Paul, and Winding Ways. Come learn the tricks of curved seams and lose your fear! 1/2 day

Professional Tote–Who would not want to carry this tote to work or school or on the airplane? It’s perfect for toting a laptop and water bottle and has tons of pockets for all your gadgets and necessities. Gather all of your supplies and be read to have fun and sew. Pattern purchase required. 2 day workshop for inexperienced  sewers; 1 day for experience. This class uses garment sewing skills more than quilting skills.

Baby Blocks with a Twist–Learn an easy strip piecing technique to make diamonds and then assemble them into gorgeous stars and baby blocks.  It’s easier than it looks!  Full day

Block Carrier–Would you like a handy block carrier that you can use to roll your blocks so you don’t have to fold them? Find out how easy it is! By the end of this class, you’ll have one made and you might want to make one for each of your projects!  1/2 day

Strips and CurvesStrips and Curves–What happens when you combine the classic Drunkard’s Pat block with strip piecing? You have lots of fun making a complicated looking quilt that it is really easier than it looks. Full day

Easy Pieces quiltThere’ll Be a Hot Time–Let’s play with color with the Easy Pieces block! By playing with the blocks you explore ways of using lights and darks in your quilt and discover the possibilities created by using more fabrics rather than fewer. If you’ve never tried this, it’s time to play. This class is best for quilters with intermediate skills. Full day.


Buggy Barn Stars–Use the quick and easy Buggy Barn technique to make these crazy stars set inside wonky log cabin blocks. The sample is in Christmas fabrics but you can choose any kind of fabrics. Book purchase required. Full day
