Wow, I spent 8 days in Houston for Quilt Market and Quilt Festival. I spent time with good friends, learned about new products and fabrics, took classes, enjoyed the beautiful weather and did some shopping. I also walked miles and slept very little! In other words, I had a great time!
I made the small art quilt above in a class called Stupendous Stitching with Carol Ann Waugh. She is a Denver based fiber artist who makes fabulous art! I loved her class and would certainly recommend that you take a class with her if you ever have the chance. She also teaches on Craftsy.com. My second class was Abstract-i-licious with Lyric Kinard. We spent the morning doing abstract drawing exercises. We then had to pick one and make it in fused fabric. I like the piece I did but I’m still rotating it various ways, trying to decide how I like it best. What do you think? Finally, I took Decorative Stitch Machine Applique with Sarah Ann Smith. We worked on fused leaves and just tried lots of different machine stitches. We all have lots of stitches on our machines and rarely use them. I’m now looking at my sewing machine with fresh eyes! Here is a closeup of my working sample. Now I just have to find time to practice my new techniques!!!!
