Last week I spent a delightful four days at the June Bits ‘n’ Pieces quilt guild retreat. It was a productive time! I finished the zigzag quilt top above. Most of the gray and citron prints are from Michael Miller. The background is Kona coal.I also finished this pin wheel quilt top from my red and turquoise leftover fabrics. It’s about 45″ x 65″. See my post on May 13 to see the first quilt from the collection. I used the remaining pieces to make the quilt back so that’s the end of that project box!
Then I made 3 of these bags from candy bags. The addition of some fusible vinyl, some lining fabric and a zipper turns trash into a usable bag! By the time I took the picture, I had already given one of the 3 away!
In addition to lots of great sewing time, we sampled some of the great restaurants in the area. Our first visit was to the always delicious Thai House. Then we discovered Who Dat’s which has excellent New Orleans style food as well as some great St. Louis area favorites. Their gooey butter cake is officially the best in the region. Then our whole group went to The Dreamland Palace near Waterloo. This very historic restaurant features German cuisine and amazing German decor. Here is the bar!We had a great time at retreat conducting our international dining tour!
