Goals

My quilting life has taken a back seat this month but I’ve finally gotten a little time this week to think about goals for 2012. My first goal for the year is to focus more on my goals rather than guild challenges and other random projects that aren’t on my list.

My second goal is to make a donation quilt for the hospital at least once a month. This is my January project which was made from blocks in one of my UFO boxes.

That leads me to my third goal is which is to empty some of my UFO boxes. Many of these are random blocks that can be converted to donation quilts. Notice how nicely those two goals work together! For example, I have a bunch of 16″ circle blocks in bright colors.Don’t you think these would make cheerful little quilts for kids in the hospital? Some of my other UFO’s can be finished up to donate to guild raffle projects or other fund-raisers.

Goal number 3 is to get catch up on my unquilted quilt tops. I have two queen size tops that have been sitting there way too long. This is one of them. This fits well with goal number two also. I sometimes practice a new quilting pattern on a donation quilt before I try it on a bigger project.

Goal number 4 (and the last one) is to play more. For me, this means to spend more time on art quilts. I have some ideas that I never seem to make time to try.  I have fun things to play with that I’ve bought in Houston. I’m going to make time this year to get them out and play with them! For example, I bought several smooch spritzers in Houston. These are little spray paints in cool colors to spray on fabric. I used one with a stencil on a little art quilt last week and really liked the effect.

So those are my goals for 2012. I’ll post the results here as I progress through the year!
