Retreat-Day 1

Here I am at the Piece Mill Quilters retreat. I arrived early and was set up and sewing by 10:30. My first project was the “killer” quilt. Everyone who has made this one (which is based on the Sampler Magic pattern) has said it’s a killer. I added to the pattern to make it larger and substituted my hand pieced lemoyne star blocks for the original 12″ blocks. I also changed the borders. Here is the resulting Christmas Lemoyne Star quilt. I had everything but the final border done when I came to retreat. Today I added the border print and mitered the corners.

Whoa, Marsha, that really turned out beautiful. I knew the border fabric would be nice, but it really enters another dimension once it’s actually put onto the quilt. Wish I was there. Warm and quilty inside, snowy and cold outside. Sounds like fun.
